Deep Dives XML FAQ

In the spirit of this chapter this review will be compiled as a FAQ.

Q: Was this written by Michael Coles?

A: Yes, and this has got to be my favorite chapter on XML. Very easy to read and broken down directly answering questions that people would have.

Q: Is it really formatted as a FAQ?

A: You bet it is. There are even references to what the different parts of the XML are, and it builds on the understanding of the basics.

Q: I have never done XML, heck I don’t even know if I understand what the heck XML is…

A: After I read the chapter I can tell you that it does not stand for X-ray Machine Line. It doesn’t have anything to do with x-ray machines. If you have never worked with XML this chapter is not going to leave you out in the cold. If you have worked with XML and wanting more information this will help you equally as well.

Q: What about Data Types and design, he can’t cover that as well can he?

A: Yes, and yes he can. This is very well organized chapter.

Q: Is that all the chapter covers?

A: No, there is more information in there such as how to query your designs, shredding the XML (yes shredding is a real term), retrieving elements to start.

Q: Anything else to add?

A: A difficult part for me when reading about new subjects is understanding all the terms. This chapter starts from square one and takes you up to using advanced query topics.
